Abstract

813,403. Reflectors, baffles. BAXENDALE, R., BAXENDALE, J., BAXENDALE, P. S., and CASELTON, M. J. Aug. 29, 1957 [May 29, 1956], No. 16545/56. Class 126. A baffle plate a, Fig. 1, with a rejecting front surface is mounted on a hinge b at the top of an open fireplace. The lower end of the plate has a part c which provides a smooth surface for the flow of air to the chimneyd, and which is cut away at its ends to clear brackets e, Fig. 2, secured to the side walls of the fireplace. Th brackets form pivotal supports for a plate f, adjustable by a screw g threading through an arm h on the plate and engaging a throat restrictor i. The position of the upper end of the plate f against the restrictor determines, when the part c is against the plate f, the area of flow to the chimney. To increase the area of flow the plate a is raised over projecting parts m on the fireplace sides and drawn forward.
