Abstract

821,950. Open fireplaces. ALLINGTON, T. April 9, 1957 [Jan. 11, 1956; Nov. 23, 1956], Nos. 918/56 and 35824/56. Class 126 An arcuate-shaped draught plate 12, Figs. 2, 3, responsive to flue draughts in a domestic fireplace is pivoted at its front edge on a rod 24, Fig. 5, extending between the webs 15 of an L-bracket 13, 14 adapted to be secured in the mouth of the flue by screws 21. One end 25 of the rod 24 extends through a hole in a web, while the other engages a slot 26 in the opposite web, being retained in position by a pivoted member 27. The plate 12 has spaced, apertured. reinforcing ribs 30 on its rear face and is supported by a hook 39, Fig. 9, engaging a pin 40 carried by a channel member 41 integral with the upper edge of the central rib 30. The hook is formed at the lower end of a non- rotatable screw 38 engaging a spring- loaded nut 44 mounted in a cup 47 secured to the limbs 14. Rotation of the nut regulates the gap between the rear edge 55 of the plate 12 and the back 56 of the fireplace. Air inlets in the limbs 13 of the angle member are covered by rotatable discs 49 having apertured channels 51.
