813,023. Seats. SCHLIEPHACKE, F. June 7, 1957 [June 8, 1956], No. 18189/57. Class 52(2) A foot rest is connected with the back and seat of a reclining chair by a linkage including a pair of crossed links 64, 76 (Fig. 2) the link 76 being pivoted to the seat and having a slot 82 in its free end while the link 64 is pivoted at one end to the foot rest and is connected at the other end to a lever 44 pivoted at 46 to the chair frame and caused to move by the tilting of the back and seat, and a third link 74 pivoted to the foot rest and carrying a pin 84 sliding in the slot 82. As shown in Fig. 2 the lever takes the form of a plate 44 which is linked to the seat and back of the reclining chair. A link 90 is pivoted to the pin 84 and the link 64. When the seat and back form a single unit (Fig. 6) the chair tilts about links 120 and 110, the latter being connected to the lever which takes the form of a cranked link 128 pivoted to the chair frame at 130. The leg rest is connected to the seat unit as before and a back stop 124 is provided. Preferably the link 64 carries a filler plate 70, occupying the space between the seat and foot rest when the foot rest is extended.
