Abstract

812,856. Automatic firearms. SOMEP SOC DE MECANIQUE. DE PRECISION. Feb. 28, 1957, No. 6680/57. Class 119 Refers to a device for manually locking the bolt of an automatic firearm in the closed position 'for use 'when the weapon fires grenades using powerful cartridges. A weapon in which a breech block 3 is driven rearwards to cock it by the cartridge on firing has a member 5 extending longitudinally that can be moved vertically by hand so that in its upper position it lies in the path of the breech block 3 and in its lower position it leaves it free. The member 5 is pivoted at its rear on knuckle 10 on the breech housing 4. A spigot 6 on its front end extends out through slots 12 on either side of the housing which enable the front end of the member 5 to be raised and lowered. The front end being retained at one or other position by bosses 14 attached to the spigot 6 engaging in recesses 15 (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) near the slot 12 on the outside of the housing 4.
