Abstract
810,663. Cartons. REED CORRUGATED CASES Ltd. [formerly THOMPSON & NORRIS MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd.]. Feb. 27, 1957, [March 2, 1956], No. 6664/56. Class 18. A tray-form carton has legs formed by portions 15, 16 extending from two opposite sides 3, 4 and flaps 9 integral with these sides. The legs may have flanges 19, 20 folded at right angles thereto. The flaps 9 lie inwardly of sides 6, 7 and are engaged with cut-outs 30 in the base 2. The sides 6, 7 have extensions 22 which have integral therewith members 24 carrying tongues 26. The tongues 26 are displaced from the plane of the members 24 and passed through apertures in the base formed by removal of the portions 15. The tongues are then unfolded to engage beneath the base and retain the parts 24 in position. The tray sides are arranged to slope inwards so that the legs of a tray above may embrace them to facilitate stacking. In an alternative form (not shown) the tongues 26 may be omitted and the members 24 secured by wire stitches to the walls 3, 4. Flanges 34 on a lid 33 may fit between the ends of the extensions 22 and the walls 3, 4. Alternatively the walls 3, 4 may have closure flaps extending from them.
