Abstract

809,914. Electroluminescent screens. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R.T. Jan. 25, 1957 [Jan. 28, 1956], No. 2745/57. Class 39(1). A cathode ray tube is provided with an electroluminescent screen 14 having a reflecting metal coating 15 preferably of aluminium on its inner surface and a transparent conducting coating 13 preferably of amorphous tin oxide or cadmium oxide between the screen 14 and the bulb end, the electroluminescent layer being transparent and from 2 to 20 microns thick with preferably a field strength of at least 10,000 v/cm. between the coatings 13, 15 which form the electrodes of an electroluminescent cell. The coatings may be applied by vapourization in situ.
