Abstract
816,710. Electroluminescent display signs. PEARCE SIGNS Ltd., and PEARCE, J. H. G. March 28, 1958 [March 25, 1957], No. 9763/57. Class 39(1). A thermoplastic resin panel or part for use in a sign or display panel is coated with a metallic film of titanium or other comparatively low melting point metal by an evaporational other film depositing process, the metallic coating constituting a first electrode, a second film of electroluminescent phosphor incorporated in a suitable dielectric being then applied to the metallic film, a third film forming the second electrode being finally applied and consisting of an evaporated coating of aluminium. The phosphor layer maybe deposited to form areas of different colour output and may be dyed with similar or contrasting pigments. The exciting field frequencies may be varied to vary the colour of emission.
