Abstract

744,672. X-ray tubes. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GES. Feb. 11, 1953 [Feb. 20, 1952; Aug. 1, 1952], No. 3849/53. Class 39 (1). A discharge device such as an X-ray tube has a glass window 21 fused in a metal frame 20, 23, the window being not thicker than 0.1 mm., and concave towards the interior of the device. The concave shape may be obtained by softening the window under suction. A metal screen 22 may be provided, made of thin foil, strips, or wire mesh. Alternatively the screen may be a metal mirror evaporated on to the inner surface of the window. Fig. 4 shows a large window made up of several small windows 24 of circular or polygonal shape, each formed as in Fig. 3. The window may be used as an anode by coating it with a suitable metal.
