Abstract
561,771. Rontgen-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 1, 1942, No. 13800. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] An X-ray tube comprises an anode 13, Fig. 1, with a rectangular target, a filament cathode 15 extending parallel to the target, an envelope 11 of borosilicate glass substantially impervious to the generated rays and one or more angularly spaced windows 37 covered with a thin pane of beryllium, which is pervious to the rays. As shown enlarged in Fig. 3, each window has a nickel steel sleeve 39, sealed at one end into an upstanding aperture 33, and the beryllium pane 37 rests on a ledge 43 at the other end and is silversoldered thereto. An opaque protective screen 27 surrounds the tube with apertures 45 for the windows. The anode is cooled by tubes 25.
