Abstract

708,365. Television receivers. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 28, 1952 [Dec. 1, 1951], No. 28223/51. Class 40 (3) A protective window for a cathode-ray tube television receiver is formed as a hollow moulding as shown in Fig. 1 from a material such as methyl methacrylate or toughened glass and is secured to the receiver cabinet as shown in Fig. 2 with the surface 3 at an angle of 4-9 degrees to the vertical whereby spectral reflections from adjacent light sources are prevented from interfering with viewing. Preferably the surface 3 is curved concavely as shown at 9 to form the surface of a cylinder having, for example, a radius of about 60 inches. The top and side walls 6, 7 may be rendered opaque by a coating of enamel. The surface 3 may be tinted to act as a filter to improve image contrast.
