805,455. Transformers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Oct. 30, 1956 [Nov. 3, 1955], No. 33065/56. Class 38 (2). In a laminated magnetic core, in which leg and yoke laminations 1, 2 are made of steel strips having the direction of easiest magnetization along the strip, the laminations are arranged in layers with butt joints 3 oblique to lengths of the strips, and all the laminations of one layer or group of layers are displaced along the direction of the core legs relative to the next layer or group of layers so that the joints overlap. Various arrangements of laminations for three-legged cores are described (Figs. 2-5, not shown). To obtain suitable cross-sections for the legs, the width of the laminations is decreased in steps from the centre to the outside, the outermost layer at each step being formed with perpendicular butt joints.
