792,474. Transformers and inductors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 9, 1956 [June 13, 1955], No. 16969/55. Class 38 (2). In a three-legged laminated magnetic core for induction apparatus (e.g. a three-phase transformer) wherein cooling ducts are provided in the legs and yokes, each layer of laminations comprises six pairs of rectangular strips 2-7 and one pair of non-rectangular strips 1, each strip 1 having two portions of different widths, the difference in width corresponding to the width of the duct. The strips are arranged with polar symmetry with respect to a central axis perpendicular to the layer, i.e. rotation of any section about a perpendicular axis X by 180 degrees brings it coincident with its corresponding section. Overlapping is achieved by reversing alternate layers.
