Abstract
579,088. Transformers. SHEPHERD, G. R. (Westinghouse Electric International Co.). April 27, 1944, No. 7932. [Class 38 (ii)] A magnetic core for transformers &c. has a rectangular shape with leg portions 25, 27 and yoke portions 24, 26 all of equal width N and is built up of layers of steel with greater permeability and lower power loss in the direction of rolling and so positioned that the direction of magnetization is substantially coincident with the direction of rolling, the four sheets comprising each layer having the shape indicated by the full lines in the figure, but the sheets in alternate layers being reversed so that they occupy the position shown in dotted lines with the junctions at the corners displaced to the other side of the lines joining the corners of the core to the corners of the " window."
