554,000. Transformers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Jan. 28, 1942, No. 1192. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] Relates to transformer and like laminated cores of steel which exhibits lower core losses when magnetized in the direction in which it was rolled during manufacture, and consists in making limbs and yokes from strip laminations in which the grain extends longitudinally the ends of the strips being cut at an angle and successive laminations being displaced so that a staggered joint disposed substantially at 45 degrees to the sides of the core is produced at each corner. Figs. 3 and 8 show respectively single phase and polyphase core structures, the full and dotted lines indicating respectively the shape of the laminations in successive layers.
