Abstract
798,041. Lamp-holders. GAS ACCUMULATOR CO. (UNITED KINGDOM), Ltd. Dec. 11, 1956 [Feb. 20, 1956], No. 5165/56. Class 38 (1). A holder for a pre-focus lamp comprises a metal body 1 with an insulating lining 4, 5, and having secured therein a bayonet ring 14 for engagement by the pre-focus ring on the lamp. Supported concentrically with the ring 14 so as to be slidable axially on rods 9 against springs 20 is a screw-threaded socket 18 having having a central spring-plunger contact 26 to which connection is made through a terminal 32 movable therewith. Connection with socket 18 is effected through one of the springs 20 from a terminal strip 9a. To insert a lamp, the cap is screwed fully into the socket 18 and subsequently unscrewed partially to locate the pre-focus ring in the apertures in ring 14. The lamp and socket 18 are then moved axially against springs 20 and the lamp again rotated to lock the pre-focus ring in the ring 14. Fig. 4 shows another embodiment wherein the body 1 is made of porcelain and connection to the outer end of the centre contact 26 is made through a flexible braided strip 43 from a fixed terminal 44.
