In a holder for a double-ended lamp and of the type comprising a base 10 with an integral soket 12 at each end, each socket has a contact n the form of a conical spring 26 which terninates in a ring 30 to receive a contact pip on the lamp cap. The spring is carried in a cup 20 secured in the socket by a screw 28. Shields 40 for the sockets are slidable on the base 10 ant cut-away portions 38 are provided in the sockets as, and for the purpose, described in Specification 770,621. According to the Provisional Specification eacl socket is secured to the base by a screw, a locating lug being provided for positioning the socket, the screw passing through a slot in the base
