Abstract

1,133,378. Lampholders. LONDON BANKSIDE PRODUCTS Ltd. 25 May, 1967 [25 May, 1966], No. 23290/66. Heading H2E. A lampholder body 1 of resilient material includes diametrically-opposed arms 5 which together with body parts 4 define bayonet slots, end portions 12 of the arms 5 bearing against the bayonet pins 10 of an inserted lamp to urge the lamp contact 11 against a contact stud 7 of the holder. The body 1 is formed from a metal blank (Fig. 5, not shown), or, alternatively, from resilient plastics material. The contact stud 7 and a surrounding insulating washer 6 extend through an aperture in the base 2 of the body 1, a lead 8 being connected to the contact 7 by soldering or by a terminal screw or spring clip. Rubber rings (not shown) may surround the lead 8 and engage the base 2. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), an insulating washer (26) carries two contact studs (27), projections on the washer extending through respective apertures in the base 2. A central dimple (26a) on the underside of the washer (26) engages the base 2, thus allowing the washer to rock to provide equal contact pressures. The bayonet slots may be at different heights in the body 1 for receiving axially-offset bayonet pins of a double-filament lamp.
