A lamp holder comprises a metal housing 1, in which are located spring contacts 4, and has and inwardly opening annular recess 5, near the open end of the cavity, which houses an annular L-shaped washer 6 of resilient material, the washer having one arm of the " L " engaging the wall of the recess and the other arm extending radially-inwardly to engage the circular base of an inserted lamp. Resilient fingers 11 are engaged in an aperture in a support to mount the lampholder. The lampholder can be formed with bayonet type grooves or a screw thread.
