1505501 Lampholder F W THORPE Ltd 3 Oct 1975 [12 Nov 1974] 48832/74 Heading H2E A lampholder comprises a hollow body 10 having an opening 28 for receiving a lamp end and an electrical contact member 22 held in the body 10 by a removable insert 12, the insert 12 being retained in the body by a retaining member 32 engageable in the body by a detent action. In one embodiment two lampholders are constructed to receive a tubular tungsten halogen lamp 30 and on each holder the insert, of porcelain, has a projection 18 received in a slot in the contact member and the insert bas a slot and groove connection with the porecelain body. The retaining member is H-shaped with a resilient projection 40 on one side and an L- shaped projection 44 on the other, the latter projection engaging in a recess in the body opposite the projection 18 and the projection 40 engaging as a detent in an aperture 42 in the body. A limb 34 of a bracket 36 extends into the body 10 and the projection 40 passes through an aperture therein. The bracket is secured to a fixture 56 and is resilient to allow the holders to be displaced for fitting of the lamp. A reflector (not shown) may be fitted to the centre portion 58 of the bracket. In modifications, separate brackets are provided and the contacts have individual pressure springs. In one of the modifications, a member separate from the bracket extends into the body and receives the projection 40. In yet other modifications, the detent projection 40 is integral with the limb 34 or the separate member extending into the body.
