Abstract

1,202,973. Lampholders. VOSSLOHWERKE G.m.b.H. 30 Jan., 1968 [30 Jan., 1967], No. 4842/68. Heading H2E. A lampholder, e.g. for a double-ended fluorescent lamp, comprises a rotatable part 4 to allow angular adjustment of the lamp, and a non-rotatable, axially displaceable part 3 to allow for lamps of various lengths. Parts 3, 4 are movable with respect to an insulating housing 1 which has integral lugs 7, 8, 9 to anchor the ends 6 of a pair of mirror-image contact springs, and thus provide firm attachment points for lead-in wires (not shown) which are clamped between the ends 6 and springs 19. Each contact spring comprises a pair of limbs 12, 13. When a lamp is inserted and rotated, the limbs 12, 13 are bent axially, i.e. to the left in Fig. 2, while the limbs 13 are bent radially outwards. The part 4 is rotated with the lamp until projections 4a thereon locate notches (not shown) in a rim 3a of part 3; a spring 5 pressing part 4 against rim 3a. Part 3 is axially displaceable along screws 2 in the housing 1, against spring 5.
