Abstract
927,656. Shade holders. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 16, 1962 [March 28, 1961], No. 11336/61. Class 75 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] A combined electric lamp holder and shade carrier comprises a body having a socket portion for receiving a lamp cap, an apertured flange extending outwards from the socket portion to serve as a shade carrier and a flared flange stemming from the junction of the first flange and the socket portion to deflect outwards from the holder convection currents passing through the apertured flange arising from the heat of the lamp. In place of the usual spring pin lamp contacts, the contacts may be in the form of leaf springs secured to terminals provided on the flared flange at one end, the other end extending through apertures in the socket portion of the lamp cap. In the form shown, the socket portion 1 carries a flange 3 apertured at 4 and having a shoulder 5 at the outer edge. A flared flange 6 extends from the junction of the portion 1 and flange 3 and has a threaded outer edge 10 to receive a closure plate 8. The shade 16 rests on the shoulder 5 and is held in place by a locking ring 18 resting at its upper edge on a shoulder 19 on the flange 6. Leaf springs 13 secured to terminals 14 on the flange 6 extend through holes 15 in the base of the portion 1 to form contacts for the lamp. For Edison screw caps a single contact 13 is provided.
