Abstract
568,133. Lamp caps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 4, 1943, No. 8991. Convention date, June 8, 1942. [Class 38 (i)] A cap for a lamp &c. comprises a cup-shaped metal base 20, the flange 22 of which is secured to the lamp &c. and a non-circular insulating plate 26 of fibre &c. let into a hole 25 in the base 20 and carrying the lamp contacts 21. In one form, the edge of the hole 25 is recessed to form a seating 28 on which the plate 26 rests, a second plate 27 fitting below the seating and being secured to the plate 26 by the contacts 21. In other modifications, the insulating plate is secured to the seating 28 by ears left projecting at the margin of the hole and subsequently bent into contact with the upper or under surface of the plate 26. These ears may enter notches in the periphery of the plate 26, and the edge of the plate may be rabbeted so that it can be fitted inside a plain edge of the hole 25 in the base 20 with its surface protruding into the hole and lying flush with the outside of the base 20.
