Abstract

A magnesium-base alloy contains zinc, 3.25 to 5 per cent; zirconium, 0.2 to 0.8 per cent; mischmetal, at least 0.15 of the zinc percentage, minus 0.4, but not in excess of 0.7 per cent weight of the alloy, the balance of the alloy being magnesium, and the zirconium in the alloy being soluble in hydrochloric acid. The alloys may be rolled in the temperature range of 700 DEG to 900 DEG F. and exhibit both high tensile compressive and corrosion resistant properties.
