Abstract

792,381. Gas storage containers. KIDDE CO., Ltd., W. Nov. 2, 1956 [Nov. 4, 1955], No. 31568/55. Class 8(2). A striker pin 5 for piercing a closure disc 3 of a gas capsule 2 is held in the inoperative position against a spring 11 by a water-soluble plug 15 located between an abutment 17 carried by the pin 5 and a shoulder 14 of the discharge body 1. With a safety pin 20 removed sea water entering apertures 18 dissolves the plug 15 composed of magnesium sulphate and allows the pin to pierce the disc 3 whereon gas passes to an inflatable belt or raft.
