Abstract

789,508. Brushes. OSBORN MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 26, 1956 [Sept. 27, 1955], No. 29411/56. Class 19. One or more bulges 3 are provided in the inner periphery of a channel 1 in which a retaining ring 5 secures brush material, said bulge or bulges interengaging with a complementary recess or recesses in a rotatable hub 11. The ring 5 is of laterally collapsed U-shape cross section and the brush material is a plurality of tufts 4 of wire. Each tuft 4 in passing about the ring 5 is twisted upon itself and held together with the rings 5 within the channel 1 by inwardly projecting teeth or protruberances 6 formed in the sides of the channel. Instead of being formed as a pressing from a single sheet, the channel may be formed by a flat annulus welded to an but-turned flange on the horizontal arm of an L-shaped annular angle. The hub may have radially outwardly-projecting portions which embrace the side elements. Specification 645,407 is referred to.
