Abstract

785,382. Glass doors, and partitions. GARTNER, J., GARTNER, H., GARTNER, K., GARTNER, A., SCHNITZLER, T., and GARTNER, M., [trading as GARTNER & CO., J.]. July 22, 1955 [July 24, 1954], No. 21350/55. Classes 20(3) and 20(4) The frame members in a glass partition, which incorporates swing doors 1, 2, are formed of hose-shaped hollow sections 4, 5, 6 each of which has on two opposite sides two pairs of small undercut rabbets 7a, 7b, and 8a, 8b, for the reception of glass panel frames 17 which after slight resilient compression, can be sprung into the rabbets to secure the panel in the glazing openings. Converse cover strips 12, 15 are wedged to the outer faces of the side sections 4 of the door frames, each cover strip being provided with hooked flanges 10 which resiliently engage the undercut surfaces of the corresponding rabbets 7a, 8a. The edges of the fixed frames adjacent the cover strips 12, 15 are similarly fitted with correspondingly concave cover strips such as 14, flat cover strips, not shown, being provided along the top of the door frames and along the adjacent under edges of the fixed frame. Metal panels 19, incorporated below each glazed side panel, are first fixed into the corresponding rabbets 7a, 8a of a bottom frame section 6 before the upper edges of the panels 19 are subsequently engaged in rabbets 7a, 8a in the lower edge of the corresponding frame section 5. In order to achieve balance of design support frames 22, with panels 19, are incorporated in the lower part of each door. Wall brackets 25, having channels to receive resilient sealing strips 27, are secured to the frame sections 5 adjacent the wall opening by means of screw heads, 28 which are pressed into openings in the frame sections 5. In the case of doors which abut against a frame abutment members 23, Fig. 7, are used.
