Abstract
481,457. Draught- and weather-excluding window frames. KOLLER, E. Jan. 11, 1937, No. 857. Convention date, Jan. 11, 1936. [Class 20 (iii)] The sashes of sliding windows comprises onthree sides thereof open-sidec channel members in which are mounted sealing mem bers which engage with projecting portions of the frame members, and or the fourth side thereof meeting members are pro vided, each fitted with a sealing member which con tacts with an overlapping edge of the meeting mem ber of the adjacent sash In the vertically sliding window shown in the Figure each sash comprises three channel members II open at their outer edges, into which project portions 4, 24, of the window frame to engage with resilient metal sealing strips 17 secured within the sash members, and a meeting rail V, a vertical limb 38a of which contacts with a sealing strip 41 mounted within the adjacent rail. The glass panes are bedded in putty placed between projecting flanges 11 of the sash members and channel-shaped glazing members 16. In. the case of horizontally sliding windows, a member similar to the projection 24 is secured to a projection 19 of the sill to provide an abutment for the sealing member in the lower sash rail, and additional sealing strips may be mounted in forked portions 13a of the sash rails to engage with the sides of the projections 24. The horizontal flanges 5 of the top frame members constitute tracks for rollers mounted on plates secured to forked portions 13 of the upper sash rails.
