536,790. Partitions; window frames ; glazing. HARRIS & SHELDON, Ltd., SANKEY & SONS, Ltd., J., and BUTLER, H. G. March 28, 1940,- No. 5588. [Class 20 (iii)] A window in a partition has side rails 5 secured to the partition pillars 1, top and bottom rails 16a, 14, and one or more transoms 16 all recessed or grooved to receive superposed panes, the transoms being secured to the side rails at any desired height by bolts or the like 26. Each side rail consists of two channel irons welded together back to back, the flanges of the inner channel being inturned to form a groove in which the panes are inserted and puttied. The rails are secured by bolts 12 passing through flanges 13 on the pillars. A transom comprises an upper channel member 17, Fig. 4, formed with a groove 18 receiving the upper panes and a lower channel member having a depending hollow rib 19 forming a rebate in which the lower panes are secured by spring tongues or clips 21.
