Abstract

814,250. Glazing structural frames. ARCON (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Sept. 26, 1956 [Sept. 26, 1955], No. 27400/55. Class 20(3) A building structure comprises a main supporting framework 5 and an auxiliary framework 6 of vertical and horizontal members adapted to receive cladding panels 1, made e.g. of glass or metal, and forming the outer wall of the building, glazing strips 3 for securing the panels 1 in position on the auxiliary framework, each strip comprising an L-section or open bore section strip, one limb 14 of which has a longitudinal groove containing caulking material 15 between which and another strip 11 of caulking material located in a corresponding groove as shown in a flange 10 of a horizontal auxiliary framework member a panel is held, and a number of spring clips 16 which are secured to the auxiliary framework members to each engage with a shoulder 19 on the associated strip 3 to clip the latter in position when it is pressed against the respective panel 1 in a direction normal thereto. Each spring clip 16 has an upturned inner flange which bears against the respective panel 1 and is secured to the associated auxiliary framework member by means of screws 17. The sill 2 is fixed respectively by bolts 4 and 7 to an angle rail 5 and a mullion 8, the free end of the lower part of the sill being located in the U of a fixing clip 9 supported by the bolts 4.
