Abstract

744,625. Walls; partitions; windows; doors; double glazing. GYPROC PRODUCTS, Ltd., and GORRIE, C. C. May 5,1954 [May 5, 1953], No. 12519/53. Classes 20(3) and 20(4). A partition or wall structure comprises a channel-section ceiling beam 10, Fig. lA, H- section uprights 14, a channel-section floor beam 15, Fig. ID, which is of sufficient width to accommodate the feet of the uprights 14, panels 11 to fit into the recesses of beams 10 and 15 and uprights 14, and filling pieces 16 of L-section which close the gap between the face of the panels 11 and the upright walls of the floor beams. The L-section filling pieces as shown in Fig. 6, have a bulged portion 16A so as to be a snap fit within the gap. An opening for a window is provided between two adjacent uprights 14 and two horizontal H-section beams 18, Figs. 1B and 1C. Glazing sections 19 seat between the flanges of the members 14 and 18 and a glass pane 21 is secured between an abutment 19A and a channel-section bead 22. Door posts and frames are formed of channelsection elements having a shoulder and fastened to a pair of uprights 14 and a horizontal beam 18. In a modified construction shown in Figs. 3B and 3C the wall is constituted by two spaced panels 11 and a filling slab 26, e.g. a wood wool slab, two H-section uprights 14 and ceiling and floor beams being of suitably increased width. The glazing section 19 is adapted to provide a double window, four separate channel-section beads 22 being used to mount glass panes 21 which are inclined at a small angle as shown. The arrangement of a T-junction between two walls is shown in Fig. 5 and at a corner between two walls a square-section post is employed. each wall terminating in a single channel-section member which are fixed to the post by selftapping screws.
