779,793. Internal shoe-drum brakes. GIRLING, Ltd. Jan. 27, 1956 [Jan. 29, 1955], No. 2762/55. Class 103 (1). An internal shoe-drum brake has shoes 2 and 3 actuated alternatively by a lever 22 or hydraulic cylinder and piston 9, 10, with the lever mechanism 22 and cylinder 9 being fully floating and wholly supported by the shoes for unrestrained movement in a direction parallel to the plane of the back-plate. The actuating means are also unrestrained by the back-plate for movement in a direction perpendicular to the plane thereof.
