Abstract
905,797. Disc brakes. TEVES, H., TEVES, E. A., and TAUSEND, M., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM.-GES, ALFRED]. March 16, 1961 [April 16, 1960], No. 9644/61. Class 103 (1). A segmental lining disc brake has an openbacked U-shaped support with apertures for supporting two brake shoes, and a brake-actuating plate perpendicular to the disc in a chordal plane with spring means connecting the support to the actuating plate and shoes. The brake support 1 has bent-over portions 2, 3 provided with corrugations 13 against which the brake shoes 4, 5 bear when located in apertures in the support 1. Spring strips 15 secured to the back of the support 1 retain the shoes and also an actuating plate 8 slidably against out-turned portions 7 of the support. The plate 8 has a large central aperture 19, one side of which bears against the brake shoe 4 and the other side is carried in a thrust element 21 operated by an hydraulic piston whose cylinder 20 bears against the other brake shoe 5. Levers 29, 30 pivoted on the plate 8 at 31 bear against thrust surfaces 28 on flanges integral with the cylinder 20 to provide Bowden cable operation of the brake.
