800,832. Disc brakes. TEVES, H., and TEVES, E. A., [trading as TEVES MASCHINENUND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM-GES., A.]. March 19, 1956 [May 4, 1955], No. 8511/56. Class 103 (1). In a " spot-type " disc brake, non-rotatable axially movable pressure plates 2 and 3 situated one on each side of a rotatable disc 1 are almost completely surrounded by a U-shaped member 10 one part of which bears directly upon pressure plate 3 at 14 and another part of which bears on cylindrical extension 12 of piston 11 which operates in cylinder 8 associated with pressure plate 2 whereby relative movement of the piston and cylinder moves both pressure plates axially into frictional engagement with the brake disc, one directly and the other through the U-shaped member 10. The pressure plates are guided in axially extending sleeves 6 secured to a fixed part of the brake 5 and situated externally of the outer periphery of the brake disc 1. A compression spring 7 is situated within each sleeve 6 bearing against the ends of bushes 4 secured to the pressure plates 2 and 3. The brake may be hydraulically applied by fluid under pressure being fed into bore 9 and may be manually applied by means of lever 16 pivotally mounted upon U-shaped member 10 with one end bearing upon the extension 12 of piston 11 and the other end pivotally mounted on a rod 19 leading to a manually operated brake lever.
