920,792. Disc-brakes. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND, [trading as ALRED TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENTABRIK K.G.]. Aug. 21, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960; May 20, 1961], No. 30071/61. Class 103 (1). A spot-type disc brake comprises a brake support 4, 5, annular brake actuating pistons 7 passing through apertures in the brake support, a brake pad 8, or 8<SP>1</SP>, passing through the central bore 10 of each piston, and detachable means in the bore 10 for operatively connecting the piston 7 to the pad 8 or 8<SP>1</SP>. The detachable means may be adjustable axially in each bore 10 by a screw rotatable in a cover closing the bore or by an automatic slack adjuster, or, as shown, may be in the form of circlips 13 or 14 engageable in annular grooves 12. To operate the brake fluid pressure is forced into annular chambers 15. In another embodiment guide sleeves for the pistons are inserted in the apertures in the brake support, the guide sleeves and pistons being in the form of shouldered bushes. The brake support in either embodiment may be fixed or of the floating type.
