Abstract
779,454. Heating air in gas fires. OATLEY. A. F. May 23, 1955 [Feb. 24, 1954], No. 5391/54. Class 64(3) A metal convector box 10, closed at the front and back except for air inlets such as 13 at the back, is arranged in a gas fire behind the radiants or a thin refractory wall backing the radiants, to absorb heat from the latter and conduct it to air passing up through the box to ducts 15, 25, 26 which extend through the flue 33 for hot gases from the radiants. The box 10 is divided by partitions into cells each having a bottom air inlet at the back, and outlets either at the top or side leading to the ducts. A casing enclosing the box and ducts has inlets for, air which flows to tubes 35 surrounding the ducts 15 and also extending through the flue 33. Specification 704,865 [Group XI] is referred to.
