716,289. Heating air in open fireplaces. KILVERT, J. G. Feb. 10, 1953 [May 6, 1952], No. 11365/52. Class 64(3) In a convector air heater comprising hollow walls around the grate 4 of an open fireplace, two separate air passages lead from an air inlet or inlets 10 on one side of the heater, one passage extending along the lower parts of the side wall 1 and back wall 3, and returning along the upper part of the back wall to a hot air outlet 14 at the top of the heater, and the other passage extending along the side wall to the outlet 14. A third air passage leads from the inlet or inlets 10 along the front wall 2 and back along the front wall and side wall above a cross partition 7 to the outlet 14. A vertical partition 6 in the side wall 1 has ports 11, 12 respectively above and below the rear end of partition 7. The port 12 is partly above and partly below the front end of a cress partition 9 which extends along the side wall and into the back wall. A central' vertical partition divides the space in the back wall 3 into two parts. A similar set of passages is provided on each side of the heater.
