Abstract

645,582. Air-heating stoves. SOUTH EASTERN GAS BOARD., FUIDGE, G. H., and BUXTON, O. Oct. 7, 1948, No. 26188. [Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XI] A domestic heating appliance having balanced flues has a vertical compartment at the back centre of the appliance divided horizontally to form a lower duct to direct incoming air..to the base and an upper duct to withdraw combustion products from the top, a compartment forming the combustion space being disposed in front of the rear vertical compartment and additional compartments being arranged at each side of the centre compartment for the circulation of combustion products. The rear centre compartment is divided by a horizontal partition E into an inlet duct D<SP>1</SP> connected with an inlet through the wall of the room in which the appliance is installed and an outlet duct D<SP>2</SP> connected with a waste gas outlet passing through the wall. Air entering the top of the lower compartment D<SP>1</SP> passes downwards and is supplied to a non-aerated burner F in the lower part of the front centre compartment. Rising combustion gases are deflected by a flattened V-shaped baffle H which is above the burner F into the side compartments and then enter the top of the outlet duct D<SP>2</SP> through an opening O. A casing K which is open at the bottom and has a slot L for the discharge of heated air to the room is provided. A port J for lighting and viewing the burner is provided.
