Abstract
1,170,844. Air heaters. RADIATION Ltd. 11 June, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 28135/67. Heading F4S. In a radiant/oonvector gas fire having rear and front walls 1, 2 respectively and a radiant heat emitter 5, the hot combustion gases flow along an extended path within an inner casing 7 before leaving same through a flue outlet 14. The air to be heated passes by convection upwardly over the outside surface of the cas- ing 7 and is discharged into a room through suitable apertures (not shown) in the front wall 2. The casing 7 is subdivided into rear and front chambers 8, 9 by an intermediate plate 11, the bottom part of which is bent to form a deflector hood 12. Apertures 15 in the upper part of the plate 11 interconnect the two chambers 8 and 9. A V-shaped guide partition 16 is included in the chamber 8 below the flue outlet 14, and a divider 19 is provided in the chamber 9. Diluting air, drawn in from the room through the space defined between the hood 12 and a hood 18 is admixed with the combustion gases in the flue duct 14 to prevent condensation effects occurring.
