Abstract
582,781. Heating buildings. RIEGELHAUPT, E. July 11, 1944, No 13206. [Class 64 (ii)] The products of combustion from an open fire-place. 1, Fig. 1, may be directed by a damper 4 through ducts formed in a ceramic heater or radiator 2 in an adjacent room. After passing through-the heater, the products return to the flue 14 and may be directed by a damper 5 through ceramic heaters 3 disposed in adjacent rooms of an upper floor. The heater 2 is formed with vertical ducts having an inlet 12, Fig. 3, to the fire-place flue and an outlet 13 to the flue 14, and is covered by glazed tiles 6 lined with fireclay 7, the tiles may be reinforced by copper or galvanised iron wire and give to the heater the appearance of the usual surround and mantelpiece. The heaters on the upper floor may be formed as a unit with two adjacent sets of ducts having inlet and outlet ports 12, 13, Fig. 4, respectively communicating with the flue 14. A firescreen 11, Fig. 1, may be placed in front of the fire to increase the draught when the products are being directed through the heater.
