Abstract

Cooking-stoves; airheating fittings; heat radiators; boilers, arrangement of; air supply.-A multiple-story building has a group of central vertical flues, which, together with stoves, hot-water apparatus, hot closets, and the like form the heating - apparatus of the building. Fig. 2a shows part of a group of three equidistant flues 1 in the midst of which is arranged a cooking-stove comprising a boiler 10, an oven 16, and a grate with a hot-plate 13. The spaces between the flues 1 are enclosed by vertical curved plates 10, 20 and by horizontal plates 17 at the floor and mantelpiece levels. Between the mantelpieces and the ceilings these plates 17, 20 form hot clasets, to which doors are fitted. Between the mantelpieces and the floors the plates 17, 8 form the casing enclosing the stove. Each of the flues 1 is, as regards that pait of its length which is below a diaphragm 5, an air supply flue; above this it is a smoke flue. The air rising through the pipe 1 passes through an aperture 6 into the space below the boiler 10; part passes through apertures 9 in the plates 8 to the rooms and part passes to the fire-place of the stove. The combustion products circulate over the boiler 10 and around the oven 16, and thence through an aperture 7 into the upper part of the flue 1. Soot collects on the diaphragm 5 and may be removed through a doorway 18. The edges of the plate 17 above the range form the mantelshelves. The tubes 1 are preferably ribbed or fluted.
