Abstract

771,470. Hop-picking machines. BURR, E. H. May 9, 1955 [May 19, 1954], No. 13336/55. Divided out of 771,469. Class 6(3). A mobile hop-picking machine includes a picking mechanism which is constructed as a separate unit from the main frame of the machine so as to be separable therefrom to permit replacement of the picking mechanism. The main frame 1 comprises longitudinals 2, vertical standards 4 and inclined angle-members 5 the webs of which face inwardly to form a platform on which the frameworks 6, 7 of the picking units are secured by bolts 8. Each picking unit comprises upper and lower longitudinal beams 6, 7 connected by verticals 9 and cross members. The picking means consists of upper and lower belts 11,12 carrying finger-bars, as described in Specification 702,700. The picked material falling on to a conveyer 15 delivering to a bagging shoot 16. The upper ends of the belts and the conveyer pass around shafts 17, 18, 19 which are driven, in unison, by a chain 21 driven from an engine 24 on the chassis. Two picking units are mounted side-byside on the chassis and either may be detached by removal of the bolts 8 and slackening of the chain 21.
