708,104. Fodder, picking up and chopping. THWAITES, L. B. July 2, 1952 [May 20, 1952], No. 12701/52. Addition to 708,089. Class 5 (1) In a machine for picking up cut fodder lying on the ground and passing it between a pair of elevating wheels to a chopper, as in the parent Specification, the elevating wheels are replaced by a vertically acting conveyer 35 between which and a vertical plate, the picked-up material is drawn up to the chopper (40, 41, not shown). The conveyer comprises endless chains 55 covered by a canvas belt 35 and carrying U-section cross bars 57 serrated to form teeth 39. One or both of the conveyer rollers 36, 37 are spring supported. The conveyer can be tightened by adjusting the anchorage 67 of the lower spring 65 by screwing the bolts fixing it to the frame 16.
