Abstract
875,144. Road scavangering &c. MONCK, J. March 17, 1958 [March 16, 1957], No. 8740/57. Class 107. A material-moving machine comprises a frame 1, supported on wheels 2 carried by arms 3 to provide caster action, and shafts 6A, 6B which carry sprocket wheels 8 around which circulate chains 9 supporting material-moving devices 10, such as brushes, which move the material across the path taken by the vehicle. A shaft 11, coupled at 12 to a power take-off shaft of a tractor, is provided with pulleys 13, connected by belts 14 to pulleys 15 attached to the shaft 6A. Bearings 7 are slidable to adjust the tension in the chains 9. Guide surfaces 18 take the weight of the upper flights of the chains 9. A coupling bar 19 is attached to the towing tractor. A shield 17 prevents material being thrown up by the brushes. The coupling means may be disconnected and another means, at right angles to the form, used to sweep along the line of previouslyswept material, to cause the line of material to be heaped. By swinging the arms 3 into a vertical position, the frame 1 and material-moving devices are lifted clear of the ground. The machine may be used for sweeping lawns or scraping snow or mud.
