Abstract
768,798. Coke ovens. KOPPERS CO., Inc. April 21, 1955, No. 11598/55. Class 51 (2). In a regeneratively-fired coke oven battery, particularly of the compound cross-over fluid type disclosed in Specification 448,282, the coking chambers 10 taper to increase in width from the pusher side 10a to the coke side 10b, and the liner walls 13 in the same horizontal plane along each heating wall decrease in thickness from the narrow to the wide end of the coking chambers from a range of 3¢ to 5 inches to a range of 2¢ to 4 inches. Preferably, the thickness of each liner wall 13 is graduated in a series of wall portions 19 of successively decreasing stage of “ inch. As in the aforementioned Specification, the thickness of the liner walls decreases stepwise vertically up the heating wall. The invention may be applied to other heating flue systems, such as twin flues or to a series of single flues as disclosed in Specification 28811/04, [CLass 51].
