Abstract

764,631. Centrifugal separators. WESTFALIA SEPARATOR AKT.-GES. Jan. 19, 1955 [Feb. 11, 1954], No. 1633/55. Class 23 In a separator having sludge outlets controlled by a ringe valve 7, the chamber 11 holding the valve closing medium is so shaped that sufficient medium to close the valve is retained in the chamber when the valve is open. The medium may be a plastic or elastic mass, or a liquid having a high boiling - point. When the chamber is charged with a liquid medium, excess of liquid is discharged through a channel 18 during the first discharge of sludge. The valve is opened by supplying liquid from a pipe 16 to a chamber 12, liquid leaking from the chamber being discharged through a channel 19. After the supply through the pipe is shut-off, the liquid in the chamber 12 drains through ports 13 to permit the medium to close the valve. Specification 763,429 is referred to.
