Abstract

778,503. Centrifugal separators. DE LAVAL SEPARATOR CO. Jan. 5, 1956 [Jan. 5, 1955], No. 421/56. Class 23 [Also in Group XXVI] A separator bowl 12 having hermatically coupled inlet and outlet pipes 15, 13, 14 is cleaned by closing a valve 15a in the inlet pipe, closing a valve 13a in the outlet pipe 13, and pumping cleaning liquid into the outlet pipe 13 between the valve 13a and the bowl so that the liquid is forced through the bowl to discharge through the outlet pipe 14 while by-passing the inlet pipe. The. bowl may be stationary or rotating during cleaning. Towards the end of the cleaning process the valve in the inlet pipe may be opened.
