Abstract

544,384. Returning leakage liquid. KAMMER, G. S. Jan. 30, 1941, No. 1246. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] Leakage of fuel in injection nozzles or other apparatus subjected intermittently to high liquid pressure is collected in a chamber communicating through a non-return valve with a closed space of resiliently variable volume. this space being connected through a further non- return valve with the inlet for fuel. Fig. 1 shows an injection valve 22 supplied with fuel by a pump connected to passages 6 8 and 10, leakage of fuel past the valve collecting in a chamber 25 and flowing past a non-return valve 29 to a space 37 closed by a resilient body 32 of synthetic rubber or the like. When the fuel pressure in the inlet 6 is relieved, the fuel in the space 37 passes through holes in the valve 29 into a passage 36, opening another non-return valve 16 and returning by a passage 14 to the inlet 6. In modifications the non-return valves may be of the ball type, and the resilient body 32 may be replaced by a diaphragm or a corrugated capsule.
