Abstract
797,757. Valves. JACKSON (ENGINEERS), Ltd., J. March 20, 1956 [March 28, 1955; Dec. 5, 1955], Nos. 9032/55 and 34859/55. Class 135. A rotary valve comprises a body 5, a chamber 6 within the body, inlet and outlet passages 7, 8 in communication with the chamber and rotatably mounted closure member 9 in the chamber. Around each of the passages an 0-ring 24 of rubber-like material is mounted in a U-section recess 19 formed wholly in the valve body. The recess may contain a spacing member 21 or may be of uniform depth. Spring means may be provided in the recess for urging the sealing ring outwardly. The closure member may be a cylindrical plug or may be a quadrant of which the arcuate convex face engages the sealing ring. A removable disc 14 permits the rotary member to be withdrawn to gain access to the sealing rings.
