Abstract

492,736. Centrifugal machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Dec. 21, 1936, No. 35047. Void. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1935. [Class 23] Solids. are removed from liquids in a separator bowl provided with peripheral apertures 10 which can be opened and closed while the bowl is rotating, the bowl also having apertures 16 just clear of the sludge space, which permit the discharge of liquid from the bowl before the apertures 10 are opened. A hollow cylindrical slide 11 attached to the cylinder 15 is operated by fluid from the pipe 13, to control the opening- and closing of the apertures 10. The apertures 16 may be fitted with exchangeable nozzles through which a small quantity of liquid discharges as long as the bowl is full, or the apertures 16 may be controlled by the slide 11 so that it opens these apertures before it opens the apertures 10 for the discharge of the solids. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the bowl has a hood 19 pressed by springs 20 to make a tight joint by means of packing 21 over the apertures 16. The hood is lifted by a lever 23 when the apertures are to be opened. In another modification the hood is raised by electromagnetic means.
