Abstract
761,546. Automatic regulation; rectifying and smoothing. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 28, 1954 [March 27, 1953], No. 8486/53. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). To produce a stable direct voltage a relaxation oscillator including a neon tube L, Fig. 1 (Provisional), and a resistance-capacity network R1, C1 is connected across a source of variable direct voltage In, and the stable direct voltage is produced across a reservoir condenser C2 connected through a rectifier D1 to the output of the oscillator. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the rectifier is reversed and a resistor connected between the positive terminals of the variable and stabilized voltage sources. In a further modification, Fig. 2 (Provisional) (not shown), more suitable for higher voltages, the relaxation oscillator is of the type described in Specification 750,312 in which instead of a neon tube a cold cathode triode valve having feedback to its trigger electrode is utilized.
